Since it’s beginning, Miles MacDonald was a driving force of the Chedabucto Performance Centre (CPC). From booking local to international acts and performing artists, to promoting and welcoming performers and guests to the beautiful facility, Miles was considered the face of the CPC and he never missed a show.

On Tuesday July 24th the Miles MacDonald Appreciation Concert was held at the CPC . This incredible concert, created by Ursula Ryan featured many of the Music Festival youth (many now young adults) that Miles admired throughout the last 10-15 years. A concert that Miles and Ursula had discussed having someday during Guysborough Come Home Week.

At the conclusion of evenings performance, Phillip Hochman, Board Member of the CPC, announced that the Chedabucto Performance Centre will now be renamed the Miles MacDonald Performance Centre. This announcement was met with an overwhelming round of applause and standing ovation from everyone in attendance.

New signage will be created in the coming months. This renaming has been made possible in conjunction with the Strait Regional Centre for Education and Barb Avery (Principal Chedabucto Place Education Centre). The Miles MacDonald Performance Centre Board would like to that everyone who made this possible and feel there could not be a more fitting name to a place that meant so much to a man who put his heart and soul into making the facility a place where his community and beyond were entertained. Please note the Chedabucto Performance Centre Association will still remain under the same title, and only the facility name will be changed.
